Eric Douglin [Commissioner]

Eric Douglin with one of the many awards he has won for his contribution to basketball.

 Eric Douglin, is the Founder and Owner of the Bexhill Giants Basketball Club, based in East Sussex England. He is viewed among his peers as one of England’s most proactive basketball enthusiasts and has hosted a number of international tournaments in the UK which have included teams and officials from across the globe. Due to the success of these international events and the large number of requests from overseas teams to compete in events organised by Douglin and his team, he decided to create the ‘World Club Basketball Tournament in (WCBT) 2015.

In 2018 WCBT2018 was its 4th annual event which included teams from the USA, Poland, England, Wales and Canada.

 "I am proud to be associated with this new and exciting concept which is a testament to the growth of the WCBT and our aims to bring the basketball world closer together. I am really looking forward to working with an experienced group of visionaries who are not afraid to take a risk for the good of the sport. In addition to delivering the league, we will also be providing support and guidance for players looking to get into college or professional basketball from the UK to overseas and visa versa. We are planning to launch the WCBA ‘A’ League in 2019 , with plans to showcase WCBA teams in tournaments across Europe this summer."

Ray Vasser [Deputy Commissioner / CEO]


Ray has 25 years of refined expertise in organizational business ownership, development/training, and 

business process improvement. His background as an executive in high-turnover industries, lends 

strength to his work in developing and delivering effective strategic business planning. He has notable 

experience in marketing tools and growth strategies. Currently, Ray serves as Vice President in a top 

ranked Heating & Cooling company in the state of Iowa.

With 30 years of basketball experience as a player and Coach, Ray is no stranger to the hardwood. 

He played college ball at Kirkwood CC and UNI. On the professional level, he had a short stint on the 

CBA circuit with the Rockford Lightning and the Oklahoma City Calvary, now known as the NBA G-

league. Ray is Founder & CEO of Defender Ministry Inc, a youth sports outreach that has spanned 

around the world. He has been running basketball camps and coaching middle school and high school 

kids for over 18 years. Ray has a current high school career coaching record of 282-74. 

Ray’s mission is simple: “To carry forward my passion for Jesus Christ through life lessons, using the 

sport of basketball. My competitive spirit and will to succeed and help others succeed, inspires me in 

mentoring, coaching, and developing athletes of all ages. My desire is to encourage leadership through 

the game of basketball, by providing discipline, reflecting values and teaching lessons that can be used in 

every aspect of life.” Ray and his beautiful wife Deena, have 10 children and 2 grandchildren.

Karl Cassell [Vice President]

Karl Cassell has spent most of his professional life working in non-profit and/or government serving

Karl Cassell has spent most of his professional life working in non-profit and/or government serving underrepresented communities from Maryland to Iowa. With the understanding that economic and employment needs are hindering many people across the country, Karl Cassell along with other forward thinking individuals, formed Top RANK Executive Recruiting to help stem the employment gap. 

Karl’s area of focus will bebe non-profit, healthcare, finance, sports and entertainment and government. 

With over 20 years experience across many industry sectors ranging from sports and entertainment to city government, Karl has broad expertise in executive management, strategy development, and new business initiatives. His primary career focus has been in developing winning teams, while growing leaders for internal or external promotion.

Most recently, from June 2013-October 2017, Karl Cassell had been President/CEO of Horizons, A Family Service Alliance. Horizons runs the largest local Meals on Wheels program (second largest in the state), and also provided services in the areas of Mental Health & Wellness, Financial Health & Wellness, Neighborhood Transportation Service (NTS), Community Health & Nutrition, and Family Support Programs.

Prior to Horizons, Karl served as Executive Director of the Cedar Rapids Civil Rights Commission from 2009-2013. Its mission is to assure the rights of all people under the law.

Recognizing the importance of active community involvement and his role as a stakeholder, Karl serves on several boards, including Elmcrest Country Club, Collins Community Credit Union Board, City Planning Commission of Cedar Rapids, Cedar Rapids Downtown Rotary (he was President of the 33rd largest club in the world from 2016-2017); St. Luke’s Hospital Board, Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation.

Scott Gardner [President]


Scott Gardner is married to Lauren and they have 3 children together.  They met at the University of Northern Iowa where Scott played Football and Lauren Volleyball.  Scott has a Bachelors, and two Masters Degrees and a number of Certifications.  He is a Deacon at his home church and loves sports, fishing, and being with family and friends.  Scott has sat on the boards of many Civic organizations and is motivated to make a difference in the lives of people that he has the opportunity to meet.  His goal is to live a life that is pleasing to God

Scott has been at the Senior level of Management for over twenty years.  The principals and teachings that he has acquired through Sports and Education has helped him succeed in Managing Major Corporations. He has been responsible for divisions that have covered up to 4 states and 2 countries at one time.  Scott has had continued success at all levels and  is excited to apply those skills in the WCBA.

Vergil Coleman [Secretary]

Ms. Vergil Coleman was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she was raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and graduated from North High School. Currently, she resides in Atlanta, Georgia as a full- time Certified/licensed Special Education Teacher.  She has been employed with Gwinnett County Public Schools for the last 15 years, and could not have found a better or more honorable profession for which to work.

Vergil’s background goes as follows:  Associates of Arts in General Education, from the University of Minnesota, Bachelor’s of Arts in Healthcare Administration, from Metropolitan State University, Master's of Arts in Education, from Walden University with a focus on K-12 Special Education. She received her Special education teachers Certification license through the University of Georgia.

As an educator specializing in special education, she has always brought abundant energy, creativity, dedication, experience and personal knowledge in working with at-risk youth and her work. You can be assured that Vergil will stay on top of all the details of a deal, to provide a smooth and easy going transaction.

Basketball has always been a passion of hers, especially when she used to play basketball with her four brothers, one of which went on to play professional basketball (Ben Coleman) in her younger days. Minnesota Blizzard team will help those individuals who enjoy the art of playing basketball as much as their mother did before she was called home to be with the lord, which was a passion of hers, especially when her son was playing. This team is dedicated to her.

Eric Allen [Director of League Marketing]

Eric Allen


Eric Allen  was a renowed college athlete & earned full scholarships to play Football and Baseball for Garden City Community College, Southwest Missouri State.

While at Missouri State he Pledged and earned membership to Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity has 15 years’ experience in Nutrition /Training.

Eric moved back to Kansas after graduation and started shortly thereafter a successful 25 year Management career in the Big Box Grocery Industry and Sales.

Eric has owned a number of businesses and is Mentor for kids and troubled youth, he also  has a passion  for public speaking on education and development of youth and Adults through faith.

He has a love of movies, music and culinary arts is a continued labour of love. Kansas Jayhawks Hoops!!! Sports Historian.

Family, Faith and Focus will be key in Developing and Marketing the "World Club Basketball Association" Brand and League globally! 

Madison Schwindenhammer [Web Design and Developer]


Madison Schwindenhammer is the owner and CEO of MS Photography and Design.  Madison has been in the Graphic Arts business for a number of years, and started the company 3 years ago.  MS Photography and Design is based out of Peoria Illinois in the USA.  MS Photography and Design, focus on freelance Web Design and Photography, works with companies of all sizes, and is known for providing personal attention to all clients.  Madison conducted her Undergraduate studies at Bradley University.

Madison joins the WCBA team as the League's Web Design and Developer.  All media compositions will be assessed and/or developed by MS Photography and Design.
